Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before creating your first capsule.

A Time Capsule delivers on a specific date and time you set — no check-ins needed, no conditions. Think of it as a scheduled message to the future.

A Safety Vault delivers only if you stop confirming you're still around. You check in periodically to keep it sealed. If you miss your check-in window (plus a grace period), it fires automatically. This is ideal for "in case of emergency" scenarios.

First, you'll receive a warning email (if enabled) as your deadline approaches. After the deadline passes, a grace period begins — this gives you extra time to log in and keep the capsule alive.

If the grace period expires without a check-in, the capsule transitions to triggered state and the delivery fires. You can configure the warning and grace period durations when creating the capsule.

Yes. Safety Vault capsules can be paused at any time — while paused, no deadlines accumulate and no deliveries fire. You can resume them whenever you like.

You can also permanently delete any capsule from your dashboard or the capsule detail page. Deleting removes the capsule and all its payload configuration immediately.

Yes. We do not require real names or physical addresses. You can sign up with a pseudonym and a privacy-focused email address. For payments, we use Stripe, which handles your billing information separately; EternalRelays only sees your account activation status.

For maximum OpSec, you can also use our API to check in via a script or a separate device, reducing your digital footprint on the web UI.

Recipients do not need an EternalRelays account to receive a capsule. When the capsule fires, they will receive the delivery exactly as you configured it (e.g., an email with your message and any file attachments). They simply receive the content; they don't have to log in to our platform to read it.

Currently supported delivery methods include:

  • Email — send to one or more recipients with a custom subject and body
  • Webhook — POST or GET to any URL with optional custom headers
  • Push notification — via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
  • Social media — post to Twitter/X, Mastodon, or Bluesky
  • Data deletion — trigger automated data removal workflows

You can also attach a video stream recording or release files alongside any delivery method.
